Institutional Services

It is important for those in custody to maintain strong links with their community during incarceration. The John Howard Society of London and District offers weekly visits to the Elgin Middlesex Detention Centre to provide individuals with information, counselling, advocacy and assist them with planning for a successful release.

Incarcerated individuals may place a request with the guards on duty to see a worker from the John Howard Society. Referrals are accepted from any source, including family, friends, community members and an individual on the range. Collect calls are accepted from all provincial and federal institutions. Support letters can also be provided to assist individuals in planning for their release.
